The Henning Hornet seventh and eighth grade girls’ basketball teams wrapped up their seasons just before the start of Christmas break.
The seventh grade team had a great season, ending with a strong 9-2 record. Their defense was their biggest strength, making it hard for other teams to score. They were good at stealing the ball, blocking shots, and stopping their opponents.
The team had a nice mix of quick guards and strong posts. The guards handled the ball well, while the posts grabbed rebounds and scored points inside. Together, they worked really well as a team.
That same group of seventh graders joined a few eighth graders to play in the eighth grade games. This combined team had a tough season, finishing 1-10, but they made big improvements as the year went on. They faced tough competition, but never gave up. By the end of the season, they were keeping every game close and giving their opponents a real challenge.
Their one win was a big moment, showing how much they had improved. Strong defense and smart plays helped them pull off the victory and gave them a boost of confidence for the rest of the season.
Both teams are excited to take what they learned this year and come back even better next season.
