There’s no week quite like Snow Week at Henning High School. King candidates this year include: Isaac Fisher, who is the son of B.J. and Shari Fisher; Blake Wallevand, who is the son of Pete and Beth Wallevand; and Parker Fraki, who is the son of Mark and Tena Fraki. Queen candidates include: Autumn Grasswick, who is the daughter of Tom and Jeannie Grasswick; Grace Nyhus, who is the daughter of David and Roxann Nyhus; and Sydney Eckhoff, who is the daughter of Keith and Ang Eckhoff.
It took just a week before the Henning HOPE first baby of the year was born in 2020. Jameson Greenwood, who is the son of Ariel and Garrett Greenwood of Henning, was born on January 8, 2020 at Tri-County Healthcare in Wadena.
The Ottertail City Council held the first regularly scheduled meeting of 2020 on Thursday, Jan. 16. At this meeting, the council agreed to move forward with what is being referred to as the “Tyler Wohlers” trail project, named in memory of the young man who lost his life in a hit-and-run along Highway 78 last summer.

Located inside the old St. Paul House, Brewsters Coffeehouse and Ice Cream Parlor is now open Friday through Sunday to serve the area’s caffeine cravings. Owner Stacey Montella also serves Italian sandwiches and other lunch specialities in the roomy location on the lower level of the building.
Helping out with needed funds for the Ambulance Crew, the Henning Lions Club organized this recent Spaghetti Feed. Over 150 area residents feasted on all-you-could-eat spaghetti, garlic breadsticks and chocolate chip cookies on Friday, Jan. 21. Many hungry participants stopped by the Henning elementary gym for the feed before heading to the Hornets basketball game in the old gym. The turn out was very good, according to Lions members.
Representative Bud Nornes and Senator Cal Larson will be in the area on Friday, Jan. 28 to hold town hall meetings with their constituents. Each meeting will last about an hour. In Henning, Nornes and Larson will meet with residents at the Kountry Korner Kafe at 11 a.m. They will then travel to the Shoreline Cafe in Battle Lake at 12:30 p.m., the Farmhouse Cafe in Underwood at 2 p.m. and will end their local tour at the Fergus Falls Public Library at 3:30 p.m.

Lance Wilke was elected as the new president of the Henning Commercial Club for the 1975 year. Harvard Jack will be the new vice president. The club also discussed the need for an attractive illuminated “Henning” sign at the new intersection. It was given the ok to look for ideas for the sign and the cost. A motion was approved for the club once again to sponsor the Arion Awards this year, which honor outstanding students both vocal and instrument music at the Henning school.
Cynthia Rousu, proprietor of Cynthia’s Beauty Salon in Henning, announced this week that she will be holding a grand opening event Saturday at her shop located in the former KWAD Henning studio above the Miller’s Barber Shop.
Henning firemen were called out to Aaron Johnsons, owners of Sunset Beach Resort in Girard Township, after the local department was called out late last Thursday morning. The chimney fire was under control by the time the firemen arrived.

The Red Owl Agency in Henning changed hands again last Thursday when Gareld C. From purchased the business and fixtures from his brother-in-law, Matt Hendrickson. Mr. Flom, who has been employed at the First National Bank, will take over officially next Monday. Mr. Hendrickson, who has owned the store for about a year, will leave with his family in about two weeks for Los Angeles. Matt said he will go into business out there, but nothing is definite what it will be.
Midshipman John W. Patrick, USN, son of Mrs. Gladys L. Anderson of Henning, was designated a naval aviator. He received his Navy wings and aviators diploma at a ceremony conducted by Captain J.B. Dunn, USN, Commanding Officer of the Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi, Texas.

St. Paul—Three carloads of beverage alcohol, valued at $500,000 in bootlegging circled, were seized by general prohibition agents in St. Paul. It was the largest single seizure in the history of Northwest prohibition enforcement and with it came development which might result in the arrest of several agents and police officers of Philadelphia. Seizure of the 12,000 gallons of alcohol came after six Minneapolis prohibition agents had accompanied the three cars from Elkhart, Ind; and successfully guarded them through the congested terminals of Chicago.
