Unless otherwise noted, pre-register and pay for the following classes at the Henning School District Office, 500 School Ave., Henning, MN 56551; phone number 583-2927, option 1.  

• Defensive driving for seniors- (There is no pre-requisite for this class.  An 8 hour class is no longer required). A Defensive Driving class for seniors with instructor Sheri Siira is scheduled for Thursday, March 20 from 9-1 at the Henning Community Center. This senior driving class will be a review of the Minnesota state laws and road signs, in addition to essential defensive driving techniques that may help you avoid a crash. You’ll learn how to accommodate common age-related changes in vision, hearing, and reaction time. According to the Minnesota state law, people age 55 and older who complete this state-approved defensive driving course are eligible to receive a 10 percent, three-year discount on auto insurance. The class consists of lecture, videos, and discussions. There is no behind-the-wheel driving and no tests. This Henning Community Education class is taught by Sheri Siira, a state-approved instructor with over 28 years of experience in training drivers.

The class is scheduled for Thursday, March 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Henning Community Center (604 Second Street, Henning). Class fee is $25 and can be brought to the Henning Community Center the day of class. Make checks payable to the Henning Public School. Pre-register by contacting the Henning Public School at (218) 583-2927, option 1 by March 13. A minimum number of participants are required to hold this class.

• Elementary Cheerleading-  Children in grades K-6 are invited to join Cheer Coach Mary Trana to have fun learning some of the cheers.  Classes are scheduled to meet January 21, 22, 23, 30 and February 4 and 6 from after school until 4 p.m. at the Henning Public School.  Children need to be picked up from the Henning School Lobby (entrance #20) no later than 4 p.m.  Children will also perform at half-time of a girls varsity basketball game on February 11.  Registration deadline is January 16.  

• STEM Camp:  Explore the world of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math through hands-on projects and experiments in this 5 week afterschool program! Discover how much fun STEM can be through chemical reactions, physics, aerospace, and more.

The classes are scheduled for Tuesdays, January 21, 28, February 4, 11, 18; after school until 5 p.m. in the Henning School Art Classroom.  Please pick your child up from the high school entrance no later than 5 p.m.

The cost of the class is $20 per child/$40 family max (make checks out to East Otter Tail County 4-H).  Registration forms can be picked up at the Henning Public School District Office. Registration deadline is January 15.
