0Vicky L. Reed, age 66, of Waconia, Minn., passed away on December 5, 2024. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Vicky was born on March 2, 1958 in St. Paul, Minn., and she spent her childhood in Northfield, Minn. She went on to attend University of Minnesota on a track scholarship. She spent most of her career as a Special Education Teacher and retired from Minnetonka Public Schools in 2015. Throughout her life and career, she was known for her determination, friendly nature, and kind heart.
More than anything, Vicky loved being with her family and friends. She was happiest when she was active and engaged with those she loved. She enjoyed being surrounded by her 13 grandchildren, spending time at the cabin, and being as active as she could. For many years, she could often be found on the golf course, in the pool, at the softball field, or playing with the grandkids.
Vicky spent the last years of her life battling a degenerative muscle disease and Alzheimer’s which slowed her down considerably over time. She fought to stay active for as long as she could with the help of her loving husband, family and friends.
Vicky was preceded in death by her father, Richard Peterson.
Vicky is survived by her husband, Mark Reed; her mother, Pat Peterson (Glen); her brother, Scott (Betsey) Peterson; her children, Kaila (Jordan) Frank, Nadia (Chris) Targosz, Anna (Kevin) Wind, Kati (Eric) Katzenmeyer and Matt (Mandalyn) Reed; and her grandchildren. Her memory, her fight, and her love will be cherished by all who knew her.
Special thanks to the staff and residents at Deephaven Woods who cared for her and loved her more than we ever could have expected.
Memorial Service will take place Friday, December 13, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church (601 E 2nd St) in Waconia with Rev. Duncan Mc Lellan as officiant. Visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
