Nineteen OTC runners post personal best at home meet

Above and below: The Otter Tail Central cross country teams fared well at their home meet at Balmoral Golf Course in rural Battle Lake on Thursday night. A total of 19 of the 23 OTC runners posted a personal best mark in the race.
The Otter Tail Central Bulldogs hosted a cross country meet at Balmoral golf course on October 3 with eight teams in attendance. The Bulldogs had two individual champions, while the boys varsity team took second place.
Claire Mansker got the meet started with a big win in the junior high girls race running 13:21 for two miles. Teammate Quinn Hagemesiter took third with a time of 14:01 and Kaitlyn Suchy took eighth.
The girls varsity team had some runners out due to illness, but were still led by freshman Teagan Brandon finishing in ninth place with a time of 21:20, which was a 80 second personal best. Brielle Malone finished in 15th with a season best of 22:04, Delia Tebrugge also had a season best with a time of 23:34. Mae Hagemesiter ran 26:49 to round out the Bulldogs.
The guys 5k saw Peter Newark just miss the OTC school record by less than a second. Newark won the race with a new personal best of 16:22, just missing Ben Himmelspach’s record of 16:21 that has been standing since 2016. Talyn Setterholm and Aidan Heggem were also in the top 10 running 18:10 and 18:14 respectively. Eighth grader Drew Robinson had a huge personal best running 18:59, Phoenix Allison was the fifth Bulldog across the line with a time of 19:37. Teammates Dylan Geihsler and Quinn Condiff rounded out the varsity squad running 19:41 and 19:57.
In total the Bulldogs had 19 of their 23 runners run a season or personal best. The Bulldogs will compete twice this week running in Brandon-Evansville on Tuesday and Perham on Thursday.
