0The Otter Tail Central Bulldogs competed at the MSUM twilight race on Friday, Sept. 13 after their scheduled race at Ada-Borup was canceled due to heat. The change didn’t seem to bother the Bulldogs as every single runner ran a season best time with 11 Bulldogs running a lifetime best. The races featured 31 teams from Minnesota and North Dakota.
Claire Mansker started the meet off fast with a third place finish in a lifetime best of 13:08 in the 3k. Quinn Hagemeister placed 30th with a time of 14:33. For the boys 3k Drew Robinson took 17th with lifetime best of 12:13.
Mae Hagemesier and Jasmine Sanmoogan lead the Bulldogs in the 4k girls race running 20:29 and 25:04 respectively. On the boys side Jack Robinson was the first Bulldog across in a lifetime best of 17:35.
The girls varsity did not have a complete team, but were led by ninth grader Tegan Brandon running 22:51 for the 5k taking 84th place. Delia Tebrugge had shaved a minute off her season best to finish in 111th place with a time of 24:16, and senior Emily Christensen had a season best of 26:01.
Peter Newark continued his breakout season finishing in fifth place setting a lifetime best of 16:38, that time moves him up to second all time on the OTC list and puts him ranked 11th in Class A. The boys got a big boost from the return of Talyn Setterholm who missed the first three meets due to injury, Setterholm and Aidan Heggem finished back to back running 18:26 and 18:30. The other three varsity members all saw personal bests with Phoenix Allison running 19:36, Quinn Condiff 21:09 and Nelson Hubert finishing in 21:37.
The Bulldogs will send most of the team to Pillager on Thursday and Peter Newark will run at the Griak on Friday at the University of Minnesota.
