0Local project collects 140 broken Christmas light strands
This past holiday season’s Christmas light recycling collection has wrapped up in Henning. The collection took place from November before Thanksgiving through January after the New Year, this drive brought in roughly 140 broken Christmas light strands and extension cords. Last year’s 110 sets of lights were collected.
Henning High School Sophmore Norah Froslee would like to thank the six organizations that contributed space for setting up locations, as well as all the community members who donated the lights to protect the environment and save county waste management machinery from breakdowns caused by strings and cords wrapping around equipment.
Froslee is a member of American Heritage Girls (AHG) Troop MN0397 chartered at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Henning. AHG has a strong tradition for girls to learn leadership while serving in their community.
All collected donations will be transported to the Otter Tail County recycling facility in Fergus Falls for proper disposal.
