“This was a really quality win in a tough environment. Browerville-Eagle Valley is very good. They are athletic, strong, deep, and well coached,” said head coach Randy Misegades.

The Hornets shot 47 percent from the field and used the 3-point shot to catch up in the second half. The team went 11-24 from behind the 3-point line and had 23 assists on 27 made shots in the game.

“We trailed by seven at the half and nine at one point in the second half. But, our guys really responded down the stretch. Logan Kostelecky and Noah Umland were huge and both hit big shots to lead the comeback,” said Misegades. “Logan scored all 18 of his points in the second half.”

Teigan Bjerke joined the pair in double figures with 15 points to go along with 8 assists and 7 rebounds, while Noah Umland scored 8 points and Lane Dilly finished with 6 points and 7 rebounds.

The Henning Hornets capped off a busy week on Friday night with a 69-53 win over Pillager on Thursday night. The win was the third of the week for Henning who improved to 16-2 overall and 9-0 in the Park Region Conference.

“Great finish to a long week of basketball. We were fortunate to collect two really tough road wins this week sandwiched around a home victory,” said head coach Randy Misegades. “Pillager is a difficult place to play and presents a lot of challenges with their size and athleticism.”

In what proved to be a back-and-forth first half, the Hornets were able to take a 38-31 lead at halftime thanks to a late run down the stretch. For the game the Hornets shot 55 percent from the field and went 10-12 from the free throw line.

“A majority of the first half was even, but we made a nice run to close the half and build a margin. We did a better job defensively in the second half and also moved the ball effectively,” said Misegades.”

Misegades credited Dawson Misegades for stepping up after he played a majority of the first half when starter Lane Dilly found himself in early foul trouble.

The Hornets were led offensively by Kale Misegades who had a solid game from the floor. He scored 35 points on 13-20 shooting, including 4-7 from behind the 3-point line. He also finished with a double-double when he pulled down 10 rebounds and finished with a team-high 6 assists.
