Kale Misegades etched his name in the history books on Thursday night as the sophomore scored his 1,000th career point. He joins his older brother Tyson, who reached the same milestone as a senior last season, as well as his dad/head coach Randy on the 1,000 point list.
Two nights after scoring 32 points at home against Brandon-Evansville, Misegades scored 22 points against Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal to help the sixth ranked and undefeated Henning Hornets defeat the Titans by a score of 56-51.
Henning will take a week off from action before heading to Fergus Falls on Thursday to take on Morris in the Fergus Falls Tournament on Thursday. The Hornets will return to Fergus Falls on Friday for the second day of the tournament.

Henning was about as efficient from the field as a team can get on Tuesday night as the Hornets shot 60 percent from the field and went 24-34 inside the 3-point line on their way to a 77-51 win over Brandon-Evansville.
The Hornets took an early 36-26 lead at halftime thanks to the shooting by Misegades and Teigan Bjerke who combined for 58 of Henning’s 77 total points.
“We played really well in spurts tonight. We jumped out early, but never were able to extend the lead until midway through the second half,” said head coach Randy Misegades. “B-E plays really hard and made us right for everything tonight.”
Misegades scored 32 points and dished out 6 assists in the win on just 14-23 shooting. Bjerke went 11-15 from the field to finish with 26 points, while Logan Kostelecky scored 8 points and finished with 3 assists.
“It was good to see Teigan Bjerke get into a rhythm offensively tonight. He was very efficient,” said Misegades.

Thursday
Just two nights after shooting 60 percent from the field, the Henning Hornets struggled a bit offensively on Thursday night as they took on a feisty Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal Titan team on the road. The Hornets overcame some early foul trouble and a 28-26 halftime deficit to upend the Titans by a score of 56-51.
“We overcame a lot of adversity tonight. We battled injuries and foul trouble, but our guys stuck together and got a huge section win in a very tough place to win a basketball game,” said head coach Randy Misegades. “I am extremely proud of our grit on a night when we definitely did not have our best.”
The Hornets shot 39 percent from the field, but stayed in the game thanks to nailing seven 3-pointers and going 15-24 from the free throw line.
Kale Misegades led the team offensively as the sophomore scored 22 points, which was enough for him to eclipse 1,000 points for his carer.
“Congrats to Kale Misegades on reaching the 1,000 point milestone this evening. He had to work for everything he got and we needed every last point,” said Misegades. “Kale has been blessed with a good situation, great teammates, and has played on very good teams throughout his young career. But, he also deserves everything he gets. Kale is the definition of ‘gym rat.’ I am very fortunate to be his coach and his dad.”
Misegades credited the work of Noah Umland in the win as the junior finished with 13 points off of just 4-6 shooting from the field.
“Noah Umland was spectacular for us tonight. He gave us a huge spark as we battled back,” said Misegades.
Teigan Bjerke scored 12 points to go along with 11 rebounds to finish the night with a double-double.
While he didn’t reach the scoring column, Misegades credited the work of Dawson Misegades in the post as being a big factor in helping the Hornets get off to a 7-0 start to the season.
“I am really proud of the fight and determination from Dawson Misegades tonight as well. He doesn’t always get recognized for his efforts, but he plays so hard and his teammates love him. I will go to battle with him every day of the week,” said Misegades.
