0Glendalough State Park will host another Thrilling Thursday on Thursday July 6, featuring a beginning canoeing program in the morning and a family-oriented Nature Explorations program in the afternoon.
Both programs will begin at the Molly Stark picnic area. Beginning canoeing takes place from 10 a.m. to noon., and pre-registration is required. Participants learn canoeing basics and take a short trip on the water.
From 1-2:30 p.m., join the naturalist for “Bird Balladeers”, an afternoon of discovering how to identify birds by sound as well as sight. Learn secrets about some of Glendalough’s nesting bird species and see if you can find them. Bring a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a water bottle. Feel free to bring your own binoculars and bird book if you have them, but don’t worry if you don’t. Meet at the Molly Stark Lake picnic shelter. In the event of heavy rain or thunderstorms, this program will be canceled.
All equipment and instruction for both programs are provided for free, but a vehicle permit ($7 for a one-day permit or $35 for a year-round permit) is required to enter all Minnesota state parks. Children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information or to register for a program, please call the park at (218) 261-6900.
