0Weber scores 1,000th point in 74-19 win
The Henning girls basketball team had a change in their schedule this past week due to COVID-19.
The Hornets ended up with fellow Section 6A member Rothsay, who also needed a game due to Covid-19. Monday night’s game was Henning’s only game of the week and included a great individual moment for senior Megan Weber as well. Weber scored her 1,000th career point in front of the home crowd.

vs. Rothsay 74-19 win
On Monday night the Hornets welcomed the Rothsay Tigers to town for a game. The girls really came out on fire and showed their determination on both ends of the court as they jumped out to a 39-10 halftime lead.
The first half saw a great effort from the entire team, but a tremendous offensive output from Weber as she finished the half with 21 points including her 1,000th career point on a steal and lay-up. Weber has been a real solid player for Henning over the years and it was great that she was able to get to this wonderful individual accomplishment in front of the home crowd and many family members.
In the second half the Hornets were able to continue their hot shooting and solid defense and ended up winning by the final score of 74-19.
As a team Henning shot 50.9 percent from the field, including a great 53.8 percent from 3-point range. The Hornets finished the game by going 7-13 from behind the 3-point line. Henning’s defense also led to 30 points off of turnovers, which helped set the pace of the game.
Weber led in individual scoring as she finished with 24 points in only 26 minutes including 6-9 on three-point field goals. Joining Weber in double-figures were sophomores Ally Hart and Faith Fisher who scored 13 and 12 points respectively also in about 25 minutes of play. Fisher had a great game overall with a double-double finishing with 10 assists to go along with her 12 points. All nine girls that played in this game got into the scoring column, which was great to see.
Grace Hammer just missed joining the double-figure group finishing with 8 points on 4-4 shooting. Rounding out the scoring was Lyvia Misegades 6 points, Becca Frederick 4 points, Katherine Hansen 3 points, Makena Kenyon and Emma Severson with 2 points each. Weber led the team with 7 rebounds and Fisher led the team with 4 steals.
The win brings the second ranked Hornets record to 12-1 overall on the season and they remain 9-0 in the Park Region Conference.
This upcoming week Henning will have a tough stretch of games as they travel to Sebeka on Monday night and then host second place Menahga on Thursday in two conference games, before traveling to Parkers Prairie on Saturday to take on a tough Panthers team who is 10-2 overall.
