The City of Deer Creek will seek a grant to replace some aging equipment for the local fire department.
During its regularly scheduled meeting last week, the Deer Creek City Council approved a measure to seek a grant from the Minnesota DNR to replace some of its wildland equipment. Deer Creek Fire Chief Andrew Browne said the equipment will include replacing nozzles, as well as necessary tools to battle things like grass fires.
The grant the city is seeking is for $5,000 with a 50/50 local match. As a result, if the city is approved for the grant, it will receive $2,500 in funding if it puts up $2,500 of its own to make the purchase.
The city council approved the applying for the grant and will only purchase the equipment if it is approved for the grant.
