Vanessa Neels officially purchased Betty’s Pantry from her mother, Betty Cordes, on May 1. Neels has been a staple at the local diner for a number of years and is excited about taking over the Ottertail establishment.
Jennifer Powers has fulfilled her late daughter’s Shyanne Jacobs’ request before she passed away from cancer, she officially published three books that she wrote before she passed away. The books follow the main character Skye, who was based on Shyanne’s personality, and her love interest by the name of Hawk, who was based on a person in Shyanne’s life. The books told the story of their love interest as they became part of a world in which fantasy and reality meet.
The Deer Creek Lions Club recently hosted Governor Tom Plagman and Michelle at their monthly meeting. The club presented the two with a gift from the Deer Creek Lions Club. As part of his visit, Governor Plagman presented Dave Bendix with the Melvin Jones award.

Henning firemen recognized two of its retired members at a dinner at the Oakwood Supper Club. Robert Johnson is replacing retiring member, Walt Thiedich; Bob Reinbold is replacing retiring member, Duane Fraki; and Kevin Klever is replacing retiring member, Jerry Fiskum.
Members of the Henning City Council approved a land transfer, a loan and a zoning permit for Otter Tail Dairy Supply to construct a new commercial building across Inman Street from Ellenson’s Body Shop.
“Somewhere in the Night” is the theme chosen by the junior class of Henning High School for the annual junior/senior prom scheduled for Saturday night in the high school auditorium.

Roger Rehborg is opening his café and Sinclair station on Hwy. 10 this Friday and will be serving meals and lunches seven days a week, including evenings. Mrs. Phyllis Johnson is the cook and will be assisted by Mrs. Henry Rehborg and Mrs. Jerry Jorud. Bob Nutter will help in the station.
A total of $305.80 has been collected for the Crippled Children’s Appeal in this area, according to the treasurer, Miss Mabel Espeland.

Tuesday night at a special meeting, the voters of District 1284 (near Ottertail) voted to consolidate with the Perham school.

The Farmers’ Elevator at this place was entered by grain thieves early Saturday morning and 15 bushels of oats lugged away.
As our little park is getting to be a real beauty spot for out little village, we wish to have walking on the grass prohibited, especially making paths across it. We have walks to walk on—Local Board.
Most of the boys who left Otter Tail County for service the last part of February have been crowded out of Camp Dodge. The boys from Henning and vicinity are scattered among the various eastern camps.
The Red Cross membership committee reports 28 additional members spent a couple of hours of soliciting last week.

L.L. Riley has the well laid for his new drug store and by the time of our next issue, the building will be partially enclosed.
While here on Sunday, April 30, Rev. Rice formed the members of the Methodist society into a class that society now has an organization in the village.
City ordinance No. 11 in another column prohibits the unhitching and feeding of teams on the streets of the city.
Several cases of that infantile malady, measles, are reported in the village.
There is one thing Henning needs and that is a cemetery. The Lutheran cemetery is nearly taken up by the members of that society and the society prefers to retain the remainder of the lots for additional members joining the church. It behooves the other residents to take some action toward securing a place wherein to place their friends in their final resting places.
