Coming off of one of their most successful seasons in a number of years, the Otter Tail Central Bulldogs will return a bevy of experience to the baseball field this season. The Bulldogs finished last season with a record of 9-12 and were 4-10 in the Park Region Conference. OTC did not graduate any players from last year’s team.
The Bulldogs, who opened their season on Monday against New York Mills, will be led this season by senior captains Tyson Misegades (pitcher/center field) and Jayden Harig (pitcher).
In addition to Misegades and Harig, returning letter winners include: seniors: Hunter Haugen (first base) and Garrett Nelson (right field); as well as juniors: Lane Dilly (third base/pitcher) and Gavin Pausch (second base).
The Bulldogs will also turn to a number of newcomers to the team this year including: junior Noah Link (utility/pitcher); sophomore: Owen Harig (short stop); freshmen: Drew Evavold (utility/catcher) and Kale Misegades (left field/pitcher).
“I am really looking forward to this group, we should be pretty tough. I feel like we are deep on the mound and have a lot of speed to work with,” said head coach Ryan Hendrickson.
The Bulldogs will be led this season by Hendrickson who is entering his seventh season as head coach for OTC. Assistant coaches include Dakota Aeling and Randy Misegades, while Evan Meece will coach the junior varsity and Cody Nordick will coach the junior high team.
Among the conference favorites this season will be perennial powerhouses Wadena-Deer Creek and New York Mills.
