The Henning speech team competed at the Browerville speech meet on Saturday. Several team members placed in the top six overall, including two people who placed in third place. Isabelle Godding placed third in Extemporaneous Reading with various short stories from the book There is No Long Distance Now by Naomi Shihab Nye. Brenden Weller placed third in Informative Speaking with his speech about the history of the NFL. Monica Hansen placed fouth In Dramatic Interpretation with her script from the play The Gun Show by E. M. Lewis. Hansen also placed fifth in Prose Interpretation with her script from the novel Faceless by Alyssa Sheinmel. Maiya Kodadeck placed sixth in Creative Expression with her short story “Moderation Council.” Jazmine Saari placed sixth in Discussion (this year’s discussion tasks deal with global environmental issues.)
