Individual tournament set for Saturday at WDC

The Otter Tail Central Bulldogs had their season come to an end in the Section 6A tournament on Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs fell to top seeded and eventual section champion, West Central Area by a score of 66-10 in the opening round. 

The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard at 126 lbs. when Mason Christianson picked up a 9-1 major decision over Carter Lohse. 

Tayden Soma cut the Knights’ lead to 18-10 when he followed up Christianson’s win with a pin over Sam Olson at 132 lbs. 

However, from there it was all Knights as they won the final nine matches of the night to come away with the 66-10 win. 

West Central Area would go on to defeat New York Mills by a score of 54-15 and Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale/Parkers Prairie by a score of 48-28 to advance to state. 

The loss ends OTC’s season with a record of 3-13. They will turn their attention to the individual tournament on Saturday at Wadena-Deer Creek. The top two place finishers at the individual tournament will advance to the state tournament, which will be held from March 2-4 at the Xcel Energy Center.
