If you are planning to attend the 44th annual Henning Rod and Gun Ice Fishing Derby on Saturday, make sure to have a radio nearby and keep your hearing aids turned up—otherwise you may miss out on a chance to win on of hundreds of prizes that will be given away.

After taking a hiatus last year due to poor ice conditions, the annual ice fishing derby will be held on Middle Leaf Lake on Saturday from 12-3 p.m. Prizes that have been donated by local residents and businesses will be given away every 30 seconds to one minute and feature everything from gift certificates to pizza cutters, hats and more.

Proceeds from the annual ice fishing derby benefit the Henning Rod and Gun Club. The cost to enter is just a $2 raffle ticket, which can be purchased at a number of local businesses, as well as the east end of Middle Leaf Lake on the day of the ice fishing derby.

The Henning Ice Fishing Derby has long been known for its expansive door prizes, as well as laid back atmosphere that features everything from a bon fire on the lake to allowing fish houses to keep people out of the elements. With temperatures predicted to be on the chilly side, even for the most hardy ice fishermen, event organizers are encouraging people to plan accordingly on Saturday.

Cash prizes will be given away for the largest northern, walleye, bass and panfish, and the top prizes for the raffle will be a Savage Axis XP .30-06, Winchester SXP Camo 12 Gauge and a MarCum fish package.
