Kale Misegades drives past a Battle Lake defender during Henning’s non-conference win against the Battlers. Misegades finished the game with 5 points.

Tyson Misegades hit six 3-pointers and helped the Hornets overcome a slow start against their rivals down Highway 210 on Tuesday night. Misegades finished with 29 points as he went 6-10 from behind the 3-point line.

“We came out of the gates slowly.  But, Tyson Misegades caught fire midway through the half, making six triples in the half, which gave us some momentum,” said Head Coach Randy Misegades.

The Hornets led 42-25 at halftime, before coming away with the 70-56 non-conference win. As a team, the Hornets shot 46 percent from the field and hit eight 3-pointers in the win.

Despite the hot night of shooting across the board, Misegades said the Battlers played hard down the stretch to make a game of it in the second half.

“Battle Lake played very hard and clawed back to make it tight, but we were able to seal the deal with some big baskets and free throws late,” said Misegades. “We just need to continue working to get consistent effort from all of our guys on both ends of the floor each night.”

In addition to Tyson Misegades, the Hornets were led offensively by Tanner Arndt show scored 15 points to go along with 4 assists and 5 rebounds.

Misegades credited the effort of Ethan Houselog in the paint on Tuesday night as the senior scored 6 points to go along with 9 rebounds.

As a team the Hornets shot 45 percent from the field, but were just 7-31 from behind the 3-point line.

Misegades credited Angell with a solid game as the senior was 6-8 from the field and pulled down 12 rebounds to register a double-double on the night.
