A father and his two sons have had to achieve something most bowlers can only dream of achieving—bowling a perfect game.

Rod Thalmann has bowled since he was 16 and got his driver’s license. He bowled on the Men’s Thursday Nite League in Henning, while his sons Kaleb and Kolby Thalmann started bowling at a young age in leagues in both elementary and high school.

They bowled at Henning Lanes until a fire in the spring of 2013 shut down the business. Soon after, the Ottertail Aggregate team started bowling at Wadena Lanes. All three Thalmanns have bowled on the same team for a number of years, while all three have been able to collect a perfect 300 game.

Kaleb bowled his 300 game on October 4, 2018. Kolby bowled his perfect game on September 26, 2024 and Rod joined the perfect game group on January 30, 2025 in Wadena.

The night Kaleb bowled his 300 game he bowled an 847 series, where his games were 300, 268 and 279 with that series he beat the Wadena Lanes high series record of 840. The record still stands at Wadena Lanes.
