Bulldogs edge Wolverines 16-8 for second straight win

Erik Stans rushed for a pair of touchdowns and the Otter Tail Central Bulldogs picked up 262 yards on the ground on their way to a 16-8 win over Wadena-Deer Creek on Friday night.
After a scoreless first quarter, Stans broke a 0-0 tie with a three-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. The two-point conversion was successful to give OTC an 8-0 lead. Neither the Bulldogs or Wolverines could find the end zone in the third quarter, before Stans broke loose in the fourth quarter and found the end zone on a 19-yard touchdown run to give OTC a 16-0 lead.
WDC was able to get on the scoreboard late in the fourth quarter when Leo Petrowski found Camren Snyder on a 22-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversion was successful to leave the score at 16-8.
OTC was able to control the ball for much of the rest of the quarter to come away with the win. The Bulldogs forced a pair of WDC interceptions, while holding WDC to just 3-7 on third down and 1-1 on fourth down.
The Bulldogs went 4-10 on third down and 2-3 on fourth down conversion. As a team, OTC outrushed the Wolverines by a 262-68 margin. However, WDC was able to hold a 73-1 advantage through the air.
Trysten Loghry led the way on the ground for the Bulldogs as he rushed 24 times for 132 yards, while Keaston Thorpe rushed 10 times for 54 yards. Loghry also caught one pass for one yard to lead the way for the Bulldogs.
With the win, OTC improved to 2-1 overall and will travel to Lake Park-Audubon on Friday night to take on the Raiders. LPA is currently 2-1 overall after defeating West Central Area 28-14 and Menahga 35-22, while also falling to Wadena-Deer Creek by a score of 35-7. LPA currently averages 23.3 points per game on offense, while giving up 23.7 points per game on defense.
The Bulldogs average 19.3 points per game on offense, while giving up just 14.7 points per game on defense.
