A race to first base turned into a slow trot back to home on Saturday night as the first-ever donkey baseball game was held on one of the Henning softball fields. The event was a fundraiser for the Henning Community Playground Improvement Group as it attempts to raise money to add additional playground equipment and handicap accessible playground equipment in Henning. Approximately 300 people attended the event to watch local people ride donkeys and attempt to play a game of baseball. There were several celebrity “pooper scoopers” (right) and cheerleaders who helped keep the crowd in the action, even when the donkeys decided to take a quick break from trotting around the bases.
