The Henning North Stars dropped their regular season opener by a score of 12-0 on Sunday afternoon in Perham.

The Pirates scored five runs in the third inning, three in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth inning to come away with the win. The North Stars committed four errors in the loss, which led to seven unearned runs.

Nick Lindberg led the way offensively for the North Stars as he collected two hits, while Stephen Lindberg collected the other hit for Henning.

Nick Lindberg started the game on the hill and went four innings, giving up seven hits, eight runs of which five were earned, three walks and struck out six batters. Colin Koep went one inning and gave up three hits, four unearned runs, two walks and one strikeout, while Link pitched a scoreless inning of relief, while giving up just one hit, one walk and one strikeout. 

The North Stars will return to action on Sunday when they host Perham with the first pitch scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
