Cragun’s Legacy Course
On Monday they traveled to the Legacy Courses at Craguns near Brainerd for the Pillager meet. Head coach Mike Hepola said it was definitely plenty of wind, but overall for this time of the season the course was in good shape and the temperature was comfortable enough. Hepola said the team hasn’t had a ton of practice time outside yet, so we expected some struggles at times on a challenging course.
The team finished in second place in the seven-team event with a team score of 348, which was four strokes behind Pillager’s 344.
Individually, senior Cameron Markuson had a very solid first round of the season, shooting 82 to tie for second place behind Medalist Traeton Nelson’s 78.
Other OTC golfers scores and places included Fr. Cooper Dorn 87 (eighth place), sophomore John Umland 89 (9th place), sophomore Brayden Martinson 90 (11th place), junior Connor Reinbold 93 (16th place) and seventh grader Xavier Hoelscher 100 (25th place)

Individually, Brayden Martinson bounced back after his first round where he struggled putting and shot a wonderful 77 to finish in third place, five strokes behind medalist Marshall Dewey of West Central Area.

This week the golfers will travel to Alexandria Country Club for a meet on Monday and then to Balmoral on Thursday before possibly heading to Wheaton on Friday.
