A motion by County Commissioner Wayne Johnson of Pelican Rapids and seconded by Commissioner Sean Sullivan of Fergus Falls was unanimously carried to approve the addition of one full-time equivalent Assistant Finance Director to the county structure to support the finance department. This position is included in the 2026 county budget.

A motion by Johnson and seconded by Commissioner Dan Bucholz of Perham was unanimously carried to approve increasing the 0.75 full-time equivalent Lead Maintenance Worker I position within the Facilities Operations Department, to a 1.0 full-time position.

Votes for these positions were held at the March 24 county board meeting in Fergus Falls.

Public health

donations accepted

Many community organizations throughout Otter Tail County contribute financial donations and resources to support a wide range of public health initiatives to county government. These include, but are not limited to, lactation (breast feeding) education, family home visiting, senior services events, safe community programs and other health promotion efforts.

Minnesota statute requires counties to accept these gifts by resolution expressed in terms prescribed by the donor in full. Acceptance of the funds or resources is thus done in accordance with the donor’s terms and in the best interests of Otter Tail County.

On March 24 the Otter Tail County Board of Commissioners formally accepted the above-described funds and resources from community organizations, businesses, and individuals and extended its grateful appreciation.
