Local fire departments conduct ice rescue/cold water training on Middle Leaf Lake

Several local fire departments conducted a joint ice rescue/cold water rescue training on Saturday afternoon on Middle Leaf Lake in rural Henning.
On Saturday March 14,the Henning Fire Department conducted an ice rescue/cold water rescue training. Henning was joined by Ottertail Fire Department, Battle Lake Fire Department and Vining Fire Department, along with the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office Sherp and the area Sprint Medic for the training.
The training was conducted with instructors from Customized Fire Rescue Training. This valuable training allowed for department members to practice their skills and learn new techniques in case of an ice rescue or cold water rescue event. Members practiced removal with rope teams, as well as loading patients into boats and into the Sherp.
