In the inaugural season of Math League, the 17 member team came up one question short of making it to the Minnesota Math League State Tournament. Thirteen of the 17 Henning students participated one time or another on the selected eight member roster. What is remarkable about the team is how young they are.
The Henning team placed ahead of the state bound Pelican Rapids team in the division and section standings, but to qualify for state, the league uses a ranking system much like the QRF ranking in sports to qualify for state.
Hennig placed third out of seven within the division behind Fergus Falls and Alexandria. Henning was first in the section out of five, but Pelican Rapids earned additional extra points by winning three of the five meets within the section, whereas Henning only won two of the five meets, but lost due to power ranking points.
Going into the final meet on Monday, both teams knew any number of factors could affect the outcome to see which team would go. It just so happened to favor Pelican Rapids.
Elliot Severson edged out fellow team member Brayden Anderson for the top team member by 1.1 points. They finished respectively 13th and 15th out of 70 individuals overall in the division.
Other notables for Henning were Easton Misegades 21st, Kale Misegades 22nd, Ryan Despard 25th and Jaxon Pederson 27th,
