Lopez-Moen takes fifth at Osakis tournament

Ava Rousu took third place, while Kayetana Lopez-Moen finished in fifth and Ava Molter took sixth at the third annual Osakis Silverstreaks girls invitational on Saturday.

Rousu secured a pin over Brielle Traxler of Thief River Falls in the opening round of the 155 lbs. tournament. In the semi-finals, Rousu fell to Ava Phillips of Pierz by a fall at 1:44 to drop to the consolation bracket. Rousu would go on to defeat Teale Tatum of Foley by a pin at 2:20 and Chloe Philippy of Wadena-Deer Creek in the third place match at 5:32 to finish in third place.

Lopez-Moen took fifth place at 136 lbs. after falling to Addison Hilukka of Wadena-Deer Creek in 50 seconds to drop to the consolation bracket. In the consolation semi-finals, Lopez-Moen secured a first period tech fall over Nora Martell of Thief River Falls and went on to defeat Makaya Oehrlein of New York Mills by a 14-0 major decision to finish in fifth place.

Molter took sixth place at 112 lbs. after securing a pin over Audrie Marshik of Foley at 1:17, before falling to Leah Greenwaldt of Staples-Motley by a 17-0 tech fall in the quarterfinals. Molter secured a pair of pins in the consolation bracket to advance to the fifth place match where she would fall to Monroe Anderson of Sauk Centre-Melrose to finish in sixth place.

As a team the Bulldogs finished in 13th place with 44.5 points. Sauk Centre-Melrose won the 21 team tournament with 199 points with Wadena-Deer Creek finishing in second place with 140 points.
