Henning improved to 13-0 overall and 6-0 in the Park Region Conference with a pair of commanding wins last week. After defeating Browerville by a score of 82-49 on Tuesday night, the Hornets hosted Verndale on Thursday in a return to conference action and subsequently picked up a 90-44 win over the Pirates.
The win over the Pirates sets up an important conference game against New York Mills on Tuesday against the Eagles who are one of just two one-loss teams in the conference at 4-1. Henning is the lone undefeated team in PRC action this season. On Thursday the top ranked Hornets will travel to Parkers Prairie and on Friday they will host Bertha-Hewitt in their second conference game of the week.

The Henning Hornets overcame a slow shooting night from behind the 3-point line thanks to 41 rebounds and 22 steals on their way to an 82-49 win over Browerville on Tuesday night.
The Hornet defense forced 28 Tiger turnovers that led to a number of transition and fast break points to overcome a 5-27 night from behind the 3-point line.
“We started slowly again, but then opened up a nice margin to close out the half,” said head coach Randy Misegades. “We shot the ball poorly from the perimeter overall. But, we were able to convert steals into points consistently to offset our poor shooting.”
As a team the Hornets shot 43 percent from the floor as they went 29-52 from inside the 3-point line, while also pulling down 15 offensive rebounds.
Kale Misegades led the way offensively with a double-double after scoring 31 points to go along with 13 rebounds, five assists and five steals. Ryan Despard chipped in with 18 points, six rebounds and seven steals, while Todd Bjerke also reached double figures with 12 points.
Zack Wiederich scored nine points, Beck Thorson scored six, while Dawson Bushman, Andrew Suchy and Teghan Wiirre rounded out the scoring with two points apiece.

Henning shot 53 percent from the floor and forced 22 Verndale turnovers on their way to a commanding 90-44 win over Verndale on Thursday night. The Hornet defense also held the Pirates to just 32 percent shooting from the floor and the offense made the most of their trips to the free throw line by going 15-16 on the night.
“Good defensive effort by the guys. We did a good job chasing them off the three point line most of the game,” said head coach Randy Misegades.
While Kale Misegades led the way offensively with 31 points, six assists and six rebounds, Randy Misegades said Zack Wiederich helped to get the Henning offense going in the first half as the rest of the team started to find a rhythm.
“Zack Wiederich got us going offensively in the first half and until the rest of the guys found their rhythm,” he said.
Wiederich finished with 22 points on just 7-10 shooting from the floor. He went an impressive 4-6 from behind the 3-point line and also finished with six rebounds.
Ryan Despard and Todd Bjerke each reached double figures with 13 and 10 points respectively, while Dawson Bushman scored seven points, Elliot Severson scored four and Andrew Such rounded out the scoring with three points.
