Just one day after his cousins landed a large walleye in their fish house, Carter Dilly caught a 29.5” 12 lbs. 9 oz. walleye in the family’s fish house on East Battle Lake near Vining. The Henning High School sophomore caught the large fish with the assistance of his grandpa, Jim Dilly. “First I thought it was a northern and when it came up and I saw the white of the tail, I was in shock when I first saw it,” said Carter. “Once grandpa pulled it up I was happy as could be.”

The Henning City Council is taking a strong stance in its hope of renegotiating its current water contract with the City of Ottertail. During its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday night, the city council unanimously approved sending a proposal that seeks to raise the amount of money the City Ottertail pays for water from $2.08 per 1,000 gallons to $4.55 per thousand. Currently the two communities are in the 22nd year of a 30 year contract in which Henning provides water to the City of Ottertail and its residents.

For the past quarter of a century the City of Henning voters were typically greeted by the laugh and voice of Richard Johnson on election day. It was a position he took seriously, which also provided him a chance to see each election from a different angle. Due to health reasons, Johnson officially resigned as head election judge for the City of Henning during last week’s city council meeting. He was an election judge for a total of 25 years, the past 15 of which he served in the capacity of head election judge.

J.W. Wilson met with a serious accident yesterday afternoon while helping to load a car of seed at the Anderson elevator. An engine making a flying switch with a car, it is said, struck the seed car in which Mr. Wilson was working with such force as to knock him off his feet against the end of the car. An x-ray taken this forenoon indicates that Mr. Wilson’s hip is fractured.
