Henning establishment named as second highest rated bar/grill in OTC

Gateway Pub in downtown Henning has been making a big impression on Google. The locally owned bar/restaurant was recently honored as one of the top bars and grills in Otter Tail County. 

Brandy Hanson, who owns Gateway Pub, said they were shocked and surprised to learn they received the honor, especially since they didn’t even know they were nominated for the award.

“We just got a letter in the mail,” said Hanson who couldn’t help but smile when talking about the honor.

News quickly spread through the bar and restaurant when Hanson received the letter on Saturday, Dec. 6 stating Gateway Pub was named as the second best bar and grill in the county according to Google reviews. 

The honor was based on verified data from Google Reviews, as analyzed and certified by BusinessRate. The recognition was part of the BusinessRate Top 3 of 2025 Awards, which identifies local leaders in customer satisfaction, brand reputation and service excellence using publicly available Google review data. 

The congratulations letter states the honor was not based on an application or nomination, but by feedback from customers.

Billy’s Corner Bar in Vergas took the top spot in the county, while Ye Olde School House Bar in Erhard was third, Old Mill Bar and Restaurant in Parkers Prairie was fourth and Beach Bums in Battle Lake took fifth place.
