Newark takes 18th place at state cross country

Otter Tail Central senior Peter Newark finished in 18th place at the Class A state track and field meet on Saturday. The senior finished his cross country career with a time of 16:32.8, which was less-than a second behind Isaac Rasmussen from LA/RP/H who finished in 17th place.
Newark was the lone runner for Otter Tail Central that advanced to the state cross country meet this year,
Erik Semling of Cotter/Hope edged two of his teammates for the top honor with a time of 15:19.7.
As a team LP/RP/H captured first place with a team score of 67. Cotter/Hope took second place with 97 points and Bertha-Hewitt took sixth place with a score of 171. Wadena-Deer Creek also advanced as a team and finished in 10th place overall.
