The Henning Hornet trap team concluded an impressive fall trap shooting season with several athletes earning top placements at both the conference and state levels.

William Schwartz led the Hornets with an exceptional performance, finishing first overall in the conference with a 24.1 season average. Over the course of the season, Schwartz recorded five perfect 25-straight rounds and even achieved a 50-straight, highlighting his consistency and precision. His strong shooting also earned him 19th place statewide among all competitors, a remarkable achievement considering the depth of competition across Minnesota.

Luke Schmidt and Jacob Menze each recorded strong seasons as well, tying for 20th place in the conference with averages of 22. Menze also notched a pair of perfect 25-straight rounds during the season, contributing to the team’s success. In the female division, Haley Hanson placed 11th, while Ella Horn earned 14th place, both representing the Hornets with distinction.

This fall, the Hornet Trap team competed in a conference that included 144 shooters, while the statewide field featured 3,049 participants. The team’s results reflect not only individual excellence, but also the continued growth and competitiveness of the Henning trap shooting program.

Team member Jacob Menze said he was proud of how the group performed throughout the season.

“Everyone really stepped up this fall,” Menze said. “The weather was unpredictable most weeks, and with all the other activities going on, it wasn’t always easy to find time to shoot. But we stayed focused, supported each other, and made the most of every round.”

The Hornets will now turn their attention to preparing for the spring season, building on a strong foundation of teamwork, discipline, and consistent shooting.
