The Henning School District was notified last week of two lab confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in members of the Henning School. The exposure date(s) were on Oct. 5-6. According to a release from the Henning School District, representatives from the school district have reached out to people who were in close contact with the individuals who tested positive for COVID-19. That being said, the district maintains that the risk for exposure for other individuals present in the building on the days in question are no greater than the risk of contracting the virus in the general community.
If creating a giant pumpkin was an art form, Dave Hawes and his son-in-law Joe Werner would be the Michelangelo and Picasso of Otter Tail County. The pair recently competed in the Stillwater pumpkin contest with Hawes receiving the Howard Dill award for having the nicest looking pumpkin. Though awards are nice, Hawes said seeing the looks on the faces of people when they see their giant pumpkins makes all of the work worthwhile.

The Ottertail council has been inquiring with various sources on the costs and role of contracted police protection for the City of Ottertail. The council asked the City of Henning about the option, and have contacted the Ottere Tail County Sheriff’s Department for their input as well. The move was prompted by continuing concern that citizens and property in the town be actively protected. Several incidents of vandalism have occurred in the past few years, and the council’s discussions have shown their desire to take a proactive approach to crime prevention.
