Newark places eighth at Border Battle cross country meet in Grand Forks

The Otter Tail Central Bulldogs competed in a pair of meets last week.
After traveling to Bertha-Hewitt on Tuesday night, the team made the trek to Grand Forks on Saturday for one of the largest cross country meets of the season, the annual Border Battle.
Tuesday
The Otter Tail Central boys placed third with 75 points, behind just Bertha-Hewitt and Wadena-Deer Creek, while the girls also placed third with a score of 89 and trailed just United North Central and Wadena-Deer Creek at the Bertha-Hewitt Invitational at the Double Eagle Golf Course on Tuesday night.
Peter Newark led the way for the Bulldogs with a third place finish with a time of 17:01, while Talyn Setterholm finished in ninth place with a time of 18:16. Drew Robinson finished in 14th place with a time of 18:57, Phoenix Allison finished in 17th place with a time of 19:34, Benjamin Sanmoogan finished in 33rd place with a time of 21:02, Nelson Hubert finished in 34th place with a time of 21:10 and Oren Brackin finished in 36th place with a time of 21:17.
Tegan Brandon led the girls team with an 18th place finish with a time of 23:19. Brielle Malone finished in 19th place with a time of 23:20, Kailie Robinson finished in 23rd place with a time of 23:37, Quinn Hagemeister finished in 25th place with a time of 24:35, Delia Tebrugge finished in 26th place with a time of 24:44, Mae Hagemeister finished in 33rd place with a time of 26:47 and Jasmine Sanmoogan finished in 42nd place with a time of 29:52.
Saturday
Peter Newark took eighth place overall and Talyn Setterholm finished in 31st place at the Otter Tail Central Bulldogs competed at the Border Bash in Grand Forks on Saturday. The meet featured teams from Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota and Canada with 230 girls competing in the Class A varsity race and 303 boys in the Class A varsity race.
Newark finished in eighth place with a time of 16:44, while Setterholm finished in 31st place with a time of 17:46. Drew Robinson finished in 66th place with a time of 18:35, Phoenix Allison finished in 80th place with a time of 18:52, Benjamin Sanmoogan finished in 138th place with a time of 19:46, Oren Brackin finished in 203rd place with a time of 20:45 and Nelson Hubert finished in 244th place with a time of 22:08.
On the girls side, Tegan Brandon led the way with a 112th place finish with a time of 23:12. Kailie Robinson finished in 118th place with a time of 23:20, Quinn Hagemeister finished in 132nd place with a time of 23:44, Delia Tebrugge finished in 158th place with a time of 24:20 and Mae Hagemeister finished in 185th place with a time of 25:15.
As a team the boys finished in ninth place out of 38 complete teams with 282 points. Bowman County won the meet with 35 points, while Sauk Centre took second place with 139 points. Meanwhile the girls finished in 26th place with a score of 594 points out of 29 teams. Hillsboro/Central Valley won the girls meet with 56 points.
