In a match up between two of the top ranked teams in state, the ninth ranked Otter Tail Central Bulldogs fell to the seventh ranked Breckenridge by a score of 42-0 on Friday night. It was the first time the Bulldogs have suffered a loss all season as they quickly fell behind a powerful Cowboy offense.
The Cowboys returned the opening kick off back 60-yards to take an early 7-0 lead. They added two more touchdowns in the quarter on a 19-yard pass and a six-yard run to take an early 21-0 lead.
In the second quarter the Cowboys scored on a 79-yard pass to take a 28-0 lead heading into halftime.
Breckenridge added two more scores in the third quarter on an interception return for a touchdown and a 35-yard run to end the scoring at 42-0 following a scoreless fourth quarter.
Despite OTC running over twice as many plays as the Cowboys at 57-25, Breckenridge was able to out gain OTC by a 326-208 margin thanks to 160 yards through the air and 166 yards on the ground.
Nearly all of OTC’s yardage came on the ground with 166 yards rushing and 42 yards passing. The Bulldogs also turned the ball over three times in the loss, but were able to convert 8-15 on third down attempts to keep their drives alive.
