Do you have an opinion on what types of housing would make a good addition to Henning? Do you think more apartment buildings, senior housing or perhaps just more single family homes are needed in the community? Or perhaps, do you think there is ample housing options available and no more houses are needed in Henning.

If you answered yes to any of the questions above, the Henning EDA and City of Henning want to hear from you. The two groups are seeking input from Henning residents about future and current housing needs as part of an expansive housing study in the community. Community input is just one aspect of the housing study, which will also include input from the Henning City Council and Henning EDA as they look to expand housing options in the community.

City clerk/treasurer Jenna Kovarik said the goal of the housing study will be to provide a roadmap to future development in the community and will hopefully show investors what kind of housing is needed in the community.

“Hopefully we can give this to a developer and say this is what we need for Henning after surveying our residents and help us plan for our future,” Kovarik. “It will tell us the spots where we need a developer to come in and build an apartment, or a townhouse or senior housing,”

Kovarik said residential input is important as it can reinforce what outsiders from the city council and Henning EDA see as needs in the community. She said that information can include everything from building multi-family housing to more single family houses.

The Henning Housing study can be completed online by visiting www.tinyurl.com/HenningHousing or utilizing the QR code located on page 4 of the Citizen’s Advocate and paper copies will also be available at the Henning City Hall.

The tentative deadline to complete the housing survey is Friday, Sept. 12, but may be extended if more responses are needed to get a good cross section of the community. The housing study questionnaire is only estimated to take 10-15 minutes to complete.
