Abigail Jones-Bartells was crowned as the 2020-21 Little Miss Henning Queen last weekend. She couldn’t help but let a big smile come across her face as outgoing queen Jolene Fosse put the crown on top of her head. Abi Eckhoff placed the Henning Festival Queen crown on top of Megan Weber’s head on Friday night. Weber is the daughter of Darren and Eileen Weber of Henning. In addition to Weber, Makena Kenyon was crowned as the Henning Festival First Princess.
Henning’s all-time leading scorer will be taking her talents to Fargo, North Dakota next season. Ellie Dague, who is the daughter of Chris and Melanie Dague of Henning, has given a verbal commitment to play for the North Dakota State Bison girls basketball team next year.
A new fuel tank will be coming to the Frank Steuart Airport in Henning in the near future. During its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday night, the Henning City Council moved forward with a plan to replace the approximately 50-year-old fuel tank system with a new above ground tank at the city-owned airport.

What was Mike Froslee Blacktopping of Vining is now Central Lakes Blacktopping, Inc., of Henning.Owned and operated by founder Froslee since 1979, the firm has been sold to long-time employees Randy Christianson of Henning and Ron Olson of Verndale. Formerly based on Froslee’s Vining farm, the company has moved to the Henning Airport Road.
Four members of a Vining family and two others were sent to the hospital as a result of a July 4 two-vehicle accident in Douglas County.
All were taken to the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria for treatment. David Otto, of Garfield, driver of a car was treated and released. The others who remained hospitalized were Christopher Siedow of Vining, his sister Jenny Siedow, their grandparents Stanley and Beverly Siedow of Vining. The passenger in the Otto vehicle was JoAnne Otto of Garfield.
The Ottertail Fire Department purchased a new fire truck last Thursday and it is expected to be ready for service this Thursday. With equipment it cost $142,000, which was paid primarily by the City of Ottertail, with about $40,000 in donations so far.

Twenty-four cases of rum and one case of gin with a total value of a little over a $1,000 was taken from the Henning Liquor Store either Saturday or Sunday by thieves.
A mysterious fire still unsolved broke out in the Gustav Guse home. The damage was about $700.
Grease the spout of the pitcher when you use it for muffin or waffle batter. It will make pouring smoother.
When making pies that are likely to be juicy, make the lower crust bigger than the top layer and then fold over like a hem to prevent leaking at the edges.

Two flying machines passed over the village Monday noon. Both were traveling south and southeasterly directions. One machine was said to be returning from some stunt making exhibition and the other was the Townly machine, which alighted new Parkers Prairie.

There is a strong sentiment for a unity of the reform parties; many people seem to think the way to accomplish this is by politicians uniting the political machines. Of course the politicians do not desire to be compelled to take a positive stand for any radical reform. The editor does not believe in fusion of political machines. It is generally conceded that the great monopolies are those of land, Finances and Transportation; the great evil is the Saloon. The way to secure a political party that stands for the abolition of these evils is for those who so believe to organize a movement for political action. Four years ago the county Alliance adopted a permanent platform on these questions and this paper had advocated a political movement to support these principals, It is as much as ever in favor of such action.
