One year to the day of the accident that took both his legs and his left arm, Andy Eckhoff completed a task few could have thought was possible just 12 months ago. Eckhoff, who lives in rural Henning, walked 4.02 miles on a treadmill, the same distance he ran on the morning of his accident in May of 2019. “I wasn’t getting off the treadmill. That’s how many miles I did exactly one year to the day,” he said. “Just everything in a way is its own little victory.” The momentous accomplishment took 79 minutes, but with each step came a sense of normalcy for Eckhoff.
For the first time in over three months, residents at Willow Creek Assisted Living are no longer separated by a pane of glass as they visit with their family and friends. After restricting in-person visits due to COVID-19 in March, residents are now allowed to visit guests on the patio of Willow Creek.
Megan Weber and Makena Kenyon are competing for the title of Henning Festival Queen. Weber is the daughter of Darren and Eileen Weber and Kenyon is the daughter of Nate and Andrea Kenyon.

Jay Volden clearly recalls what led him to begin the building of guitars. Approximately a dozen years and 30 guitars later, Jay Volden is still building guitars. He’s making a part-time business out of it. He has his own guitar building shop on Front Street in Henning. He specializes in electric guitars.
The final contribution was presented to the Henning Ambulance Department to purchase a second defibrillator.
The new addition to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Henning is progressing and is expected to be completed by September. The new addition will be a fellowship hall.

Pastor Larry Stone is the new pastor in Vining.
Helmer Wallevand is still barbering after 50 years. He left home at the age of nine. He went to country school through seventh grade and did odd jobs for his room and board. In 1920 he began barbering in Deer Creek and then moved to Wadena. In 1926 he started his partnership with Carl Blessing. In 1927 He bought out his partner. In 1930 he married M. Viola Johnson. They have raised two sons together. In 1970 he is still giving haircuts and shaves but they don’t cost 40 cents and 25 cents anymore.

After washing blankets, rinse them in water in which a block of camphor has been dissolved. They can then be stored without fear of moths attacking.
Old-fashioned iron skillets are better for frying and braising than bright, lightweight frying pans. They hold the het better and cook more evenly.

Because Secretary of Labor Wilson and his assistant, Louis Post, have refused to hustle out of the country everybody they can find who has extreme views, a certain block of congressmen and newspapers promptly leaps to the judgement that Wilson and Post are both Bolshevists.
Little Maxine Bjorklund is entertaining little friends this afternoon on the occasion of her fifth birthday.

A hotel-keeper at Alvord is kicking against a local printer. The landlord ordered a lot of note heads. The printer put on them the only ornaments he had in stock, a pair of bedbugs one on each upper corner. The landlord considers it a refection of his hotel.
This office has turned out job printing for L. Riley Anderson & Larson, Nels Lindgren and Livernash and Mason this week.
The Grand Concert Company will have a street parade on Saturday evening. The Cornet band will furnish music for the occasion. Admission is 25 cents.
