Sidd Srinivasan and Chris Koch stopped for breakfast at the Country Corner Cafe in Henning on Thursday morning. The pair began a cross-country bike trip on June 2 in New York and will end their trip in the middle of July in Seattle, Wash.
When Mike Rowe’s office door is closed for the final time this week, the outgoing school superintendent will complete the final chapter on his short, but active time at Henning School. Rowe, who will officially end his two-year tenure as school superintendent at Henning School on Tuesday, is leaving the local school district to become the new superintendent at Maple Lake.
Nearly one year after his death, Tyler Wohlers is being honored with a fundraiser and walking path in his name. Donations for the “Tyler Scott Wohlers Memorial Path” are currently being accepted, with the hopes of creating a walking path along Highway 78 near Ottertail. The path is along the same stretch of road that Wohlers was tragically killed on while walking home with a group of friends on July 6, 2019.

Walt Thiedich started his radio and small appliance career in the 1940’s. Thiedich’s career branched out to include television and “anything if it’s run off a battery or electric.” But he is retiring from it this week. With a laugh n his voice , Walt said his retirement is due to “age, health and a nagging wife.”
Vining visitors are welcomed by a new sign recently painted by Duane Christopherson, who donated his time and talents to complete the approximate 16-hour project. A former art teacher and sign painter, Christopherson designed the sign and provided the original artwork, The sign replaces one that dated back to the community’s centennial in 1982.
Henning Leaf Lakers 4-H Club painted the gazebo in the Henning City Park last week as a community pride project.

300 baby pheasants were shipped to the Ottertail Rod and Gun Club last week. Local farmers will raise them and then release them into the vicinity.

Miss Alice Markuson was given a shower by Mrs. John Traub and Mrs. Harry Markuson on Monday in honor of her approaching marriage to Mr. Lee Kyle of Hastings.
Mayor Hodgson of St. Paul was the overwhelming choice of the Democrats of the state for governor. He received three times as many votes as his nearest opponent.
Mrs. Anna Johnson, mother of Editor Johnson and Lydia Johnson, the milliner passed away at their home in this village at noon on Wednesday, June 23, 1920. Mrs. Johnson was born in Helsungtuna, Nor`rland, Sweden on July 22, 1842.

The Nelson boys have been painting the Baptist Church the past week.
Report of school in Dist. No. 212, town on Inman, for the term ending June 21, 1895; Number of pupils enrolled, 18; average daily attendance 13; Neither absent or tardy, 1; visitors, 14.
The main basis for damages in the suit by the editor against the Fergus banks et.al., is the outrage on his rights as citizen by the arrest and prosecution for a crime when the parties knew he was innocent and only published as the truth; followed by false charges of insanity. He does not sue for damages to business, a stated in the Globe. He only business books that will be produced in court will be the books of the banks to show not only that the editor told the truth, according to their own books, but that t hey knew it or should have known it. The trial will show, by the bank books, the actual condition of those banks, and no slurs or efforts of their sheet, or its assistants will change the issue to a discussion f the private business of the editor.
The Vining and Folden congregations gave Rev. Gregussen a surprise Wednesday; about 300 of them gathering at his place and having a general social time, and Rev. Gregussen was presented a fine engraved watch and chain. They passed through town on their way home.
The 14-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Dalson, of Inman, died on Friday, from lockjaw caused by stepping on a fish bone.
Miss Lillie Cofert closed her school in the Erickson district northwest of the village on Friday with a picnic at Leaf Lake. She is an active, wide-awake teacher and a young lady of sterling Christian character.
G. Looker reports a 10-pound addition to his family that is bright and active.
Farmers will do well to see that mustard growing in their fields is pulled before it ripens. The plant is in bloom now and many fields present a decidedly golden hue.
