The Henning North Stars came up just short in its bid to knock off the Nimrod Gnats on Saturday afternoon. The Gnats scored a pair of runs in the first inning and one more in the second inning to come away with a 3-2 win.

Nimrod got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning on a two-run home run, before adding their final run in the bottom of the second inning on a sacrifice fly to left field. 

The North Stars got on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth inning when Nick Lindberg scored on an Eric Fick sacrifice fly to center field to make the score 3-1 in favor of Nimrod. 

Henning added a second run on an Austin Koep sacrifice fly to center field in the eighth inning to make the score 3-2 in favor of Nimrod. The North Stars went down in order in the top of the ninth inning to take a 3-2 loss and fall to 0-6 on the season.

Despite the loss the North Stars had a number of chances to come away with additional runs throughout the game. Henning had at least one runner reach base in the opening eight innings of the game, before going down in order in the top of the ninth inning. Henning was outhit by an 11-3 margin, but kept the pressure on Nimrod with five Gnat errors in the game. 

Seth Sansness took the loss on the mound as he went four innings and gave up six hits, three runs of which two were earned and struck out three batters. Lindberg pitched the final four innings and gave up just five hits and struck out eight batters in the loss.
