The Otter Tail Central Bulldog golf team wrapped up their regular season at the Quad County Conference Meet at Tipsinah Mounds on May 19, the home Thumper Pond Meet (make-up from a rain out) on May 22 and then had the Section 6A meet at Perham from May 28-29.

Quad County Conference Meet at Tipsinah Mounds- May 19
The golf team traveled to Tipsinah for the Conference Meet and the weather was tough with some heavy winds and cold, which led to a tough day for the boys team overall finishing in seventh place with a team score of 362.
After the meet the all-conference team was announced and that includes each golfers Top 3 scores from the regular season in relation to the Medalist plus their conference meet score, the Top 15 boys and Top 10 girls (less competitors) make the team.

Thumper Pond Meet- May 22
The Bulldogs were able to make-up their home meet that had gotten rained out earlier in the season, due to the rescheduled date some of the teams weren’t able to compete, but it was a fun day. Janie Lhotak had a third place finish with her 104.
Since OTC hosted the meet they were able to play a few extra boys beyond the normal six golfers. The boys team was able to pull off a first place finish at their home meet with a team score of 366.
Logan Kostelecky finished in fourth place with an 88, Teigan Bjerke finished in fifth place with an 89, Hudson Baril and Cooper Dorn both tied for seventh place with a 93, Devan Wiederich 10th place 94, Connor Reinbold 15th place 96, Cameron Markuson 16th place 97, Brayden Martinson 18th place 100 and Bradon Grabe 21st place 103.
Section 6A Meet
at Perham
Lakeside- May 28-29
The Section 6A meet is a two-day meet with a cut after Day 1 where the top four teams and then the next 12 individuals not on those teams advance to Day 2. After Day 2 and adding both day’s scores, the top team and the next five individuals not on that team advanced to the Class A State Tournament.
The Bulldogs once again had golfers advancing to the Class A State Tournament as both seniors Janie Lhotak and Logan Kostelecky qualified for the state tournament that will be held at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker from June 10-11 with the girls in the morning and boys in the afternoon.
The boys team missed out on advancing to the second day by just four strokes finishing with a Day 1 total of 354. The Bulldogs did have three individuals advancing to the second day as Logan Kostelecky advanced with a 75, Teigan Bjerke with a 90 and Cameron Markuson with a 94. Missing out on Day 2 were Hudson Baril with a 95, Connor Reinbold 98 and Cooper Dorn 108.
Lhotak continued her better play as of late and advanced to Day 2 with a score of 93 on Day 1 and then did a great job of battling on the second day to shoot a 96 and a 11th place overall finish, but most importantly a fifth place finish in the individuals not on the team champion Park Christian squad so that advances her to the Class A State Tournament for the first time.
Head coach Mike Hepola said he is very proud of the two days of golf Lhotak put together and kept battling.
Obviously a little pressure is felt on Day 2 with a trip to state on the line. Kostelecky once again battled and shot a 78 to finish in seconnd place overall, just one stroke off of the individual championship, but that second place finish advanced him to the state golf tournament.
Bjerke showed some battle as he fought back from a slow start and finished with an 86 as he finished in 16th place and Markuson bettered his Day 1 score and shot a 93 to finish in 28th place.
Congratulations to both Janie and Logan on their advancement to the state tournament. Hepola also wanted to congratulate our other seniors on the team, Teigan Bjerke and Hudson Baril on finishing their careers and their graduations.
Letter-winners this year are those four seniors, as well as Junior Cameron Markuson, Sophomore Connor Reinbold, Freshman Brayden Martinson and eighth grader Cooper Dorn.
