The 4×200-meter relay team of Annabelle Evavold, Belle Bormann, Myiesha Antoni and Kinley Bormann placed first at the sub section track meet at Minnewaska Area High School last week.

The Otter Tail Central Bulldogs put together an impressive team performance at the subsection meet, with strong individual efforts across the board and several standout performances on both the boys’ and girls’ sides.

Peter Newark placed first in the 3200-meter run with a personal best time of 10:13.29 at the sub section meet.

On the boys’ team, distance and field events were a major source of points. Peter Newark led the way with a dominant victory in the 3200-meters, setting a new personal best at 10:13.29. Elijah Fronning showed tremendous endurance by taking second in both the 800 and 1600-meters, Aidan Heggem was a workhorse in the sprints, hurdles, and relays—placing fourth in the 400, contributing to two top-3 relay finishes, and jumping to 4th in the triple jump. The relays were also a bright spot for OTC: the 4×200 squad (Resch, Hoyt, Heggem, Lindstrom) placed 2nd, and the 4×400 team (Resch, Fronning, Lindstrom, Heggem) claimed third.

In the field, Braxtyn Cameron cleared 5’6” to take 3rd in the high jump, and the pole vault duo of Gabe Lindstrom and Quinn Condiff placed 4th and 5th, respectively. Billy Durbin and William Schwartz were both top-five finishers in the shot put, while Schwartz added another 5th-place finish in the discus.

The girls’ team had plenty of highlights of their own, especially in the sprints and jumps. Kinley Bormann took third in the 200-meters, second in the long jump, and second in the triple jump. Belle Bormann wasn’t far behind, grabbing top-six finishes in both the 200 and long jump. Freshman Annabelle Evavold sprinted her way to a fifth place finish in the 100 and contributed to both sprint relays.

The girls 4×200-meter relay team (Evavold, Belle Bormann, Myiesha Antoni, Kinley Bormann) turned in a stellar first-place finish, while the 4×100 team (Mark, Sauer, Loder, Evavold) came in third. Field events were another strength, with Antoni clearing 5’0” to take second in the high jump and Kayetana Lopez Moen placing sixth in pole vault.

When the dust settled, 24 OTC athletes had qualified for the Section meet across 23 different events. On the team scoreboard, the boys finished a strong third overall, while the girls placed seventh.
