The Minnesota Humanities Center (MHC) announces a Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment Arts and Music Education grant opportunity.

The Minnesota Legislature appropriated $500,000 (less allowable administrative fees) to MHC from the Legacy Fund to administer grants through a competitive application process to organizations for Arts and Music Education. This new funding provided by the Legislature supports the many rich cultures within Minnesota. These grants, consistent with legislative intent, will offer scholarships to youth and adults to pursue music, including singing, band, and orchestral instruments; creative writing; studio arts, including traditional craft and folk arts; and performing arts, including dance and theater, throughout the state of Minnesota.

MHC will accept grant applications through June 23, 2025. Applicants may request up to $75,000 in funding.

“This is the first time the Legislature has provided MHC with funding to make Arts and Music Education grants. We are grateful for the Legislature recognizing the impact arts programming scholarships will provide to talented youth and adults in Minnesota,” stated Kevin Lindsey, MHC’s CEO. “Appreciating being able to express oneself is so critically important for us to have a healthy vibrant society.”
