The Otter Tail Central Bulldogs fell to 3-13 overall and 2-12 in the Park Region Conference with a pair of two game sweeps at the hands of Wadena-Deer Creek and Menahga last week.

On Tuesday night the Bulldogs fell to Wadena-Deer Creek by a score of 11-1 and 9-0, before falling to Menahga by scores of 7-1 and 11-0.

OTC will wrap up their regular season this week when the travel to Brandon-Evansville on Tuesday night, host Rothsay on Thursday night and travel to Wheaton-Herman Norcross on Friday night. 

Tuesday

OTC gave up four runs in the first inning and six more in the second inning on their way to an 11-1 loss to WDC on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs lone run came in the bottom of the third inning when Sophie Akerman grounded into a fielder’s choice to bring Lauren Hexum across the plate. 

Kenady Cameron took the loss in the circle as she went 2 2/3 innings, gave up five hits, 10 runs of which seven were earned, six walks and four strikeouts. Akerman pitched the final 2 1/3 innings and gave up three hits, one earned run and one walk.

In the nightcap the Bulldogs were only outhit 7-3 by WDC, but were unable to string their hits together as the fell by a score of 9-0. The Wolverines scored two runs in both the first and fourth innings, one run in the second and third innings, as well as three runs in the sixth inning to secure the win.

Sophie Akerman took the loss in the circle after going four innings, giving up six hits, six runs of which four were earned and striking out four hitters. Kenady Cameron pitched two innings of relief and gave up just one hit, three runs of which two were earned, walked four hitters and struck out three.

Thursday

OTC remained within striking distance of one of the top teams in the Park Region Conference on Thursday night, but were ultimately unable to get past the Menahga Braves as the Bulldogs fell 7-1 in the opening game of the night. 

OTC opened the scoring when Sophie Akerman scored on an error in the top of the first inning, but Menahga scored in every inning except for one on their way to a 7-1 win. The Bulldogs were outhit just 5-4 in the loss, but committed four errors that led to three unearned runs.

Akerman took the loss in the circle as she gave up five hits, seven runs of which four were earned, walked five batters and struck out three. 

In the second game of the night, Menahga scored four runs in the top of the first inning, two in the third and five in the fifth inning to come away with an 11-0 win over the Bulldogs. 

The best scoring opportunity for the Bulldogs came in the third and fifth innings when OTC had a pair of runners on base with two outs. 

Kenady Cameron took the loss in the circle by going five innings, giving up nine hits, 11 runs of which eight were earned, seven walks and a pair of strikeouts.
