Willow Creek Senior Living is actively taking precautionary steps to prevent Coronavirus (COVID-19) in its setting. Much about the virus is still unknown, but the health care officials believe older persons with underlying medical conditions are at greater risk for the most serious forms of infection associated with this new disease. Based upon revised recommendations of the CDC, Willow Creek Senior Living will limit visitors into the campus to combat the spread of the disease and protect the health and welfare of our residents.

The season’s second major snow storm swept the state Sunday and Monday depositing several inches of new snow. In Henning, area schools were closed Monday and Tuesday as a result, with several businesses closed on Monday also. Snow removal workers had a bit of a problem getting rid of the snow due to the dump site being too muddy, making it difficult to bring their equipment in to dump snow.

Local people were involved in a car accident on Highway 108 two miles north of Henning Sunday night. Harry Klever and his wife were driving south in their pick-up and were out to run in at their farm when they were struck by a car driven by Vernon Ecker, who was coming from the north and trying to pass the pick-up. Both vehicles were badly smashed. Alfred Lindgren was a passenger in the Ecker car, had a cut ear but there were no serious injuries.

The local High School Quint returned home Saturday night from the State Graded Tourney at Hamline after winning third place in the race for the state floor title. The boys beat Magnolia with the score of 18-9 even though Magnolia lead at quarter’s time 4-1. The semi-finals were played Saturday morning Henning pairing with Chisago City. In a previous game Lakeside boys looked good, but Henning was given a slight edge. However in the semi-finals, the boys were not playing up to true form and suffered their first defeat by a 12-10 count. This defeat was hard for the boys because they felt they lost to an inferior team, when it was later discovered that Chisago City romped off with the crown, defeating Ceylon 17-11. The consolation game for a third and fourth was played at 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon against Buffalo Lake, but Henning was first not up to the task against Buffalo Lake. By the end of the quarter Henning was in the game again and won with the score of 25-15 to take third. That was the last game for seniors Captain Juvrud, Orris Johnson and Max Tschabold.
