The Henning Business Professionals of America (BPA) chapter had 14 students compete at the State Leadership Conference this past week at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis, Minn. There were over 1,500 students from across the state competing in a variety of contests.

The Henning BPA team had five of their members make it up on stage as they finished in the top nine of their contest with two students, including one state champion, qualifying for the National Contests in Orlando, Fla. in May.
Monica Hansen qualified for nationals in two contests as she was the champion in Advanced Office Systems and Procedures and also finished in third place in Advanced Word Processing.
Tiffany Weber finished in fourth place in Advanced Office Systems and Procedures so both of them are headed to Orlando to represent Henning and our BPA Chapter.
The others that ended up on stage were Isabelle Godding with a seventh place finish in Advanced Office Systems and Procedures, Myiesha Antoni seventh place in Extemporaneous Speech, EmmaLee Smith ninth place in Legal Office Procedures and Tiffany Weber ninth place in Advanced Word Processing.
Henning BPA Advisor Mike Hepola said he is proud of Hansen and Weber and all of Henning’s finalists, as well as the other 9 students who competed and represented the school and community at the state contests as they were very professional and very well-behaved the entire time and he really appreciates that as their advisor.
With the two girls qualifying for Nationals, Hepola said the Henning BPA will be doing some fundraising again to help offset the cost of the trip to Orlando. He said the group would like to thank everyone for their help in the past and thank many of you in advance for any help you provide this year.
