Henning Community Ed to host upcoming classes

• Estate Planning – This course attorney Robert Russell will cover ways to avoid guardianships and conservatorships through powers of attorney and health care directives, how to avoid probate, the use of wills, trusts, and other estate planning tools, eligibility for Medical Assistance and planning opportunities, and a brief overview of estate taxes. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers.
The class is scheduled for Monday, March 24 from 7-9 p.m. Class will be held in the Henning School Staff Meeting Room (use entrance #4). Class fee is $5/person or $10/family. Pre-register and pay by March 17.
• Driving Skills for Seniors (There is NO pre-requisite for this class)- This senior driving class will be a review of the Minnesota state laws and road signs, in addition to essential defensive driving techniques that may help you avoid a crash. You’ll learn how to accommodate common age-related changes in vision, hearing, and reaction time. According to the Minnesota state law, people age 55 and older who complete this state-approved defensive driving course are eligible to receive a 10% three-year discount on auto insurance. The class consists of lecture, videos, and discussions. There is no behind-the-wheel driving and no tests. Class is taught by Sheri Siira, a state-approved instructor with over 28 years of experience of training drivers. The class is scheduled for Thursday, March 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Henning Community Center (located at 604 2nd Street, Henning). Class fee is $25/person. Pre-register by March 13.
• Backyard Birding If you love birds, this is the class for you- The instructor will go through about two dozen birds that she has found in her backyard. Their size, color, nest, territory, food, lifespan, song and nesting are some of the things that will be covered in this class. We will also discuss bird feeders and their placement, how to identify a bird and what you can choose to attract which birds. The class is scheduled for Tuesday, March 25 at 6 p.m. in the Henning School Staff Meeting Room (use entrance #4). The class is taught by Master Gardener, Jean Siirila. Class fee is $5/person. Pre-register and pay by March 18.
• Penny Stocks – Ready to dive into the exciting world of penny stocking? In this session, instructor Shaun Imgrund will walk you through the essentials: understanding the lingo, funding your account, linking your trading platform, and exploring different types of charts. He will also show you how to place your first order to enter a position. Once you have the basics covered, the instructor will share his personal trading strategies and patterns that he watches for, along with tips on how to trade confidently while keeping your account safe from big losses. The instructor will even walk you through some of his own trades, giving you insight into his thought process and the emotional development that comes with making decisions in the market.The class is scheduled for Thursday, March 27 at 6 p.m. in the Henning Public School Staff Meeting Room.
