William Schwartz came just short in his bid to advance to the state wrestling tournament as he fell to Tommy Miron from Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Browerville in the true second match on Friday night. The match capped off a busy day for Schwartz, and the OTC wrestlers, at the Section 6A individual tournament at Wadena-Deer Creek High School.

Schwartz, who is a junior at Henning High School, opened his tournament with a 16-13 overtime win over Caleb Karnes of Osakis in the 215 lbs. bracket. He fell to Jeremy Blascyk of West Central Area by  a pin in the semi-finals, before picking up back-to-back pins over Ashton Lehmann of New York Mills in the consolation semi-finals and Aiden Sigler of Border West in the third place match to set up a true second bout against Miron. 

Unfortunately, Miron was able to pick up his 16th win of the season by defeating Schwartz by a fall at the 3:34 mark of the true second match to claim the second spot in the state meet.

Other top finishers for the Bulldogs was Mason Christianson who took fifth place at 139 lbs. and Tayden Soma who took sixth place at 145 lbs. Soma picked up his 20th win of the season when he secured a tech fall victory over Cody Krafthefer of West Central Area in the third round of the consolation bracket.
