A total of 14 Henning School students have qualified for the state BPA contest after placing in the Top 7 in non-judged events and Top 5 in team and judged events in the Region 6 contest.

On Wednesday, Jan. 22 the Henning Business Professionals of America (BPA) chapter competed in the Region 6 Contests up in Detroit Lakes at the M-State campus.  Region 6 is one of the biggest regions in the state stretching all the way across the state from Barnum, Aitkin and Grand Rapids to Moorhead.  

There were over 300 students participating in a variety of contests ranging from Accounting and Banking to Microsoft Office Computer Contests to Public Speaking and Presentation contests.  Due to the large number of participants, Region 6 gets to send the Top 7 in non-judged events and Top 5 in Team and Judged Events.

A total of 16 Henning School students participated in the Region 6 Business Professionals of American contest on January 22 in Detroit Lakes.

Henning School had 16 students participate and 14 of them qualified to compete at the State BPA Contests in Minneapolis March 6-8. 

Henning School advisor Mike Hepola said he is very proud of this group as they are required to dress business like and they represented the school and community very professionally.   

Henning School students advancing to the state competition include: 

• Monica Hansen- first place in Advanced Office Systems and Procedures and also first place in Advanced Word Processing

• EmmaLee Smith- first place in Legal Office Procedures

• Elin and EmmaLee Smith- first place in Administrative Support Team

• Tiffany Weber- second place in Advanced Word Processing and fifth place in Advanced Office Systems and Procedures

• Isabelle Godding- second place in Advanced Office Systems and Procedures and seventh place in Advanced Word Processing

• Elliot Severson- second place in Intermediate Word Processing

• EmmaLynn Bergstrom- third place in Basic Office Systems and Procedures

• Myiesha Antoni- third place in Extemp Speaking and sixth place in Banking and Finance

• Elin Smith- fourth place in Advanced Word Processing

• Callie Thompson- fourth place in Basic Office Systems and Procedures

• Gretchen Mimbach, Jazminne Saari, Brayden Martinson and Isaak Lomeli- fifth place in Presentation Management Team

• Ryan Despard- sixth place in Intermediate Word Processing.
