Mason Christian and Tayden Soma each placed third at the annual Park Region Conference tournament on Saturday. The tournament capped off a busy week for the Bulldog wrestlers who also participated in a quadrangular on Tuesday night against Fergus Falls, Perham and Border West.

This week the Bulldogs will travel to New York Mills in their lone match of the week, before kicking off the section tournament next week. 

Tuesday

The OTC Bulldogs dropped three matches and fell to 0-12 on the season on Tuesday night in a quadrangular in Fergus Falls.

The Bulldogs fell to Border West by a score of 63-12 with Mason Christianson and William Schwartz both picking up a pin in the loss. 

In their 42-36 loss the Fergus Falls, the Bulldogs picked up some timely wins, including a pin from Christianson at 145 lbs., Tayden Soma at 152 lbs. and back-to-back forfeits at 172 lbs. and 189 lbs. to pull OTC within striking distance and trailing just 36-30 with two matches left.

Schwartz secured a pin at 215 lbs. at the 2:27 mark of his match to tie the match up at 36-36, but Nolan Field of Fergus Falls was able to secure a pin over Leopold Ashley to secure a 42-36 win for the Otters. 

In their other match on Tuesday night the Bulldogs fell to Perham by a score of 66-6.

Mason Christian and Tayden Soma each placed third at the annual Park Region Conference tournament on Saturday.

Christianson placed third at 139 lbs. after falling the James Seelhammer of Wadena-Deer Creek by  5-1 decision in the quarterfinals. He secured a 13-4 major decision over Christian Nathe of Osakis in the consolation semi-finals, before getting a bit of revenge over Seelhammer in the third place match as Christianson secured a 13-9 decision. 

Soma took third place at 145 lbs. after he won by a fall over Tony Nichols of New York Mills in the quarterfinals. 

In the semi-finals he fell to Simon Jacobson of Osakis by a fall, but fought back to pick up a major decision over Preston Captain of Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale/Parkers Prairie by a 14-0 score to advance to the third place match. In a rematch of the opening round, Soma was able to stick Nichols in four seconds less than the quarterfinals as he picked up a pin at the 3:32 mark of the match to capture third place. 

Also placing for the Bulldogs was Peter Newark who took fifth place at 127 lbs., Houston Schwartz who took sixth place at 133 lbs., Anthony Rousu who took fourth place at 152 lbs., Xavier Lewis who took fifth place at 172 lbs., William Schwartz who took fifth place at 189 lbs., Landon Leitch who took sixth place at 215 lbs. and Josh Larson who took fifth place at 285 lbs.
